Dear Parents,
Here we are in Week 32! The days are getting warmer and longer (as
I write it’s 8:00 pm and not completely dark), and our year is getting
shorter. I know this was mentioned a couple of weeks ago but, it is very
important that your child comes to school with a water bottle labeled with
your child’s name. This is especially important on our P.E. days
(Monday and Wednesday).
Math
Last week we worked on a new strategy (Arrow Method) to add and
subtract within 100 and 1,000. All week the students were guided
through problems, worked in partners, and worked independently using
the Arrow Method. In the beginning of the week (Monday and Tuesday)
standards will continue working on adding and subtracting within 100 and
1,000. Students will have a mini assessment on this standard on Tuesday.
In the latter part of the week, we will be reviewing graphs. Students will be working on creating and interpreting picture graphs, bar graphs, and line plots.

meaning to using prefixes to help us determine word meaning. The
prefixes that we focused on last week and will continue to focus on are
re, un, dis, mis, pre, and under.

Projects
The 2nd grade historians are becoming experts on their decade. The research part of this project will be completed by Tuesday and students will be beginning to put together their project boards. It’s been very exciting to watch teams of students researching and getting excited about their decade! The next blog will include our presentation date!
Wishing everyone a wonderful week and all the Moms, Grandmas, and
Aunts a special Mother’s Day!!
Sincerely,
Anne Bloomfield
and
Shannon Garcia
