Happy Easter and Happy Spring Break

    March 25, 2018

Dear Parents,

It’s the week before Spring Break, the students (and teachers too) are very excited
about having a week off!  Miss Garcia and myself hope everyone has a restful and
safe vacation.

We were happy to start our conferences last Friday, March 23rd.  Conferences will
continue after vacation and conclude on April 13th.  If you haven’t signed up for a
conference please do so with the Sign Up Genius link that was sent a few weeks ago.

Second grade students will be presenting their Geography Projects on Wednesday,
March 28th in the cafeteria from 3:30 to 4:00.  Each student will present a short slide

3-D maps depicting either a urban, suburban, or rural community.   We hope you can
join us!!

Writing
Students will be going back through the different types of writing.  Our focus for this

give students another chance to work on this type of writing.

Language
In language students will be working on using apostrophes correctly.  They will be
using them in contractions and possessive nouns.

Contractions

I am                    do not they are
I’m                      don’t they’re
Possessive Nouns

The bone that belongs to the dog.

The dog’s bone was under the deck.

The pencil that belongs to the child.

The child’s pencil was broken.

Projects
Students will be finishing up their 3-D Communities and preparing to present their
slide show and 3-D maps on Wednesday.

As was mentioned earlier in the blog, Miss Garcia and myself wish all our 2nd grade
families the very best during our Spring Break.  Have fun, get some rest, and be safe...
we will see you all on Monday, April 9th!!

Sincerely,
Anne Bloomfield
and
Miss Garcia
