Week 35 Happy Memorial Day

                                                                                   May 29, 2018

Dear Bighorn Parents,

It’s hard to believe that we are down to the last 2 weeks/7 days of
school!!  As mentioned last week there will be no homework for the
remainder of the year.  Students will be working on a few “mini
projects” in class as we wind down on this 3-day week.

First of all a HUGE thank you to all the parents, family, and friends
that were able to come to the 2nd Grade Decade Project.  The
students worked very hard to become experts on their decade and
Miss Garcia and myself as always learned a few new facts along the
way!

In math we will continue to review, complete a few mini assessments,
and complete an end of the year assessment.  This assessment will
be given over a few days as it is lengthy. It will be used by your
child’s 3rd grade math teacher to get a snapshot of your child’s
strengths and weaknesses in math.

In language students have a selected a short poem (no more than 8
lines) to memorize.  They will be creating a picture to go with it.
Students may also bring in props that will enhance the reciting of
their poem.  Students will be learning, practicing, and presenting
their poems next week. There is a possibility that we will present
for parents on the last week of school.  Miss Garcia and myself will
keep you posted as to whether or not we schedule a performance,
that last week can get very packed.

Finally this week Oasis is sponsoring a
final Book Fair.  It is a BOGO (buy one,
get one free sale). This is a great
opportunity to get a few books for your
child to read over the summer.  The
book fair will run Tuesday through
Thursday, with the hours of 7:45-8:15
am, 11:15 am-2:30 pm, and 3:45-4:30 pm.

We hope that everyone enjoyed their long Memorial Day Weekend.
The next 2 weeks are sure to be busy as we finish out the 2017-18
school year and move into summer.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Bloomfield and Miss Garcia
